Samuels blessing

Samuel Kendrick Birch was so very, very good on his big day, he slept a few hours in a row the night before and never even cried at church! It was a beautiful blessing.
Ama and Squakers at our home.

the greatest generation holds the newest generation

Papa Kenny loves Sam the man.

We were so happy everyone could join us for the blessing, although we very much missed Misty and Dr. Susu, we know they wanted to be there. We love you all so much and are so happy Sam could be born into such a wonderfull extended family.

We spent a few days in Cedar City with the Praters, it is an always the first week in August if anyone is interested in joining us. On the way down we stopped at Mona and Savannah went out on the water with Trent, which was good because once we got to Cedar City the pool was so cold that she didn't spend much time in the pool. Savannah went to daycare while mom and dad saw Taming of the Shrew and then Mom and Dad took turns going to plays and watching Savannah. She made a great mask a daycare. On our way home we stopped at Cedar Breaks with Ama and Papa Moon and had a lunch spread out of the back of our trunks (Grandma Great would have been proud). It was a wonderful time and everyone found something to do. Dad and Uncle Mike went to the desert and GPSd a hole in the ground that we had found last year and shot some rabbits, Savannah had her swimsuit on a lot (but didn't spend too much time in the water and Mom tried to rest whenever possible. Next year we will be taking two kids to daycare. Wow.

Savannah had her 4th Birthday on Sunday and Monday this year, the difference between this year and last year is that while last year we couldn't get her to open any presents, this year she had presents opened before people even got into the door. On Monday she had a few little friends come over and we played some butterfly games and did face paints ( I'm getting pretty good at it) and had a pinata.

For the 4th of July we were in Grandpa Birchs neighboorhood parade as the only "motorized participants" after that we spent then evening in Provo and Aunt Mary Annes house watching fireworks and Independence day projected onto the garage door.

We went to the Cabin for fathers day (and a few times earlier to get the water on).

Jeff could not do much fishing due to an occupational injury but we still had fun. Savannah pick edwildflowes for her mom and we watched the baby birds fly away. P.S. Nebo tried to steal the boat.

We had a blast in St. George over conference weekend, it was fun that the Matt Birch family and the Burt family could join us. Nebo even behaved! He did not even go in the house once! We flew kites, went swimming, napped, watched cable, and Jeff attempted to fish (it is not so easy when your are accompanied by a wife, an almost 4 year old, and the devil [aka Nebo]). We drove through a scary snowstorm on the way home which was so odd because we had just left sunshine and 80 degrees.

Savannah and I went to the zoo on Wednesday (if I sit down when I get home from work it's all over). It was a little chilly and only 2 hours before the zoo was closing which made it nice because there were very few people there. Savannah wanted to see the snakes and gators. Ask my parents about another little girl that liked gators. We also saw some baby monkeys, and a baby giraffe but no elephants.

When I was pregnant with Savannah we called her "pretty baby" and she is. Baby #2 is now "miracle baby". As I was leaving the hospital today I started to spot, just a tiny tiny bit, but I was going to go home and lay down and then call the Doctor if it didn't stop. As I was walking to my car I walked right past my Doctor getting out of her car. I have not even had a real visit with her but she is an old friend of Jeffs and I saw her a few times when I was pregnant with Savannah. Anyway. . . she asked how I was feeling and I told her that I was going home to lay down because of the specks of blood. Next thing I am following her into the hospital via the "special doctors entrance" and into the L&D locker room where she gets on the phone and gets me right in upstairs at Maternal-Fetal medicine for a viability ultrasound. Wow, talk about right place, right time, knowing the right people. Everything is OK, placenta is fine, baby is moving around just fine, and the blood is gone. I am sad that Jeff and Savannah could not be there to see this first image of our new family member but you cannot look a gift miracle in the mouth. Jeff said that Savannah said a prayer for the baby and when I got home she told me, "Mom, I probably saved the baby!". Kind of interesting to note that just the night before we had been reading the March edition of "the Friend" and talking about how Jesus can fix anything that is wrong with us if we have faith. Thanks babe for having the unconditional faith of a child.

Mama says

I'm glad the baby doesn't look like a tadpole anymore, it was kind of freaking me out. Everyone says it is going to be a boy because this pregnancy is so much easier. So. . . I wonder if we have doomed a possible girl to a life of tomboyishness?
